400W into speakers designed for 120? Nutter? No. If I could, I put a pair of Crimson 640 mono blocks into each speaker. People who believe that over powering speakers is bad clearly do not trust their own listening abilities. They sound more natural and bigger than before. Most likely 130W into 6 Ohms.) Pushing 150W into these big ugly buggers has really improved their cohesiveness. It seems that 100W monoblocks really aren't adequate. Pro-Ject RPM4, RPM9 arm and Shure V15 III MRĪnyway, I've just added the second power amp and the speakers have filled out nicely. My system has radically changed since the last review and is now Having been looking to upgrade them for several months, it seems that I honestly cannot afford to. I'm finding it very difficult to replace these damned speakers. I thought I'd come back and top up my previous review after extensive listening.
